life lately in photo

happy sunday, kids!! i hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. as you’re all well aware, i’ve been less than stellar at keeping up with the jones’ [aka sequins & stripes, a cup of jo, the fox & she, or the golden girl]… but i sure have been having a good time. here’s a brief recap:

we made our first maine trip of the summer where we spent the days lounging on the deck, boating over to port clyde for lunch, attempting to play polish horseshoes (HUGE FAIL – the dogs didn’t understand that we weren’t throwing the frisbee for them….], and enjoying the company of great friends. the weekend flew by and before we knew it, it was time to pack up the cars and head home. Processed with VSCO with c1 presetProcessed with VSCO with c1 presetProcessed with VSCO with c1 presetProcessed with VSCO with m5 preset

lake street dive played at the shelburne museum on friday night. it ended up being a gorgeous night for the show – cool and dry. mother nature really treated us to the best weather that night. if you haven’t been to a show there, put it on your bucket list.

we packed a picnic, grabbed some blankets and hunkered down right by the beer tent. 420546AE-577C-48B9-9928-829FECBB8F23.jpgthe funniest part about the whole evening was that jess and i ended up wearing the exact same outfit. and i promise you, we didn’t plan it.

i couldn’t sit still long enough for a decent photo. sorry, jess. 😀 i promise i’ll do better next time.

saturday night was spent with co-workers and great friends celebrating the graduation of our chief residents. dinner and the award ceremony was held at the davis center followed by drinks and more drinks downtown. we wanted a group photo. this is the only one we took. oops. fullsizeoutput_15b5

and the best part about the whole thing…. it’s a blurry selfie.

we closed out the weekend at ian’s camp in colchester. it really is hard to complain about an afternoon of sunshine and a good book.IMG_0556

speaking of books… i’ve been tearing through them recently and in desperate need of some recommendations! if you know of any good ones, please send them my way!

2016 in review

as i’m mentally preparing for another year i’ve been scouring over pictures on my computer. new ones, old ones, good, and most certainly bad [admittedly overly self critical over here]. here are a few of my favorite memories from this past year:

marielle and loic’s dinner party was definitely one for the books. and the whole night was extra special because of the paper crowns. fullsizeoutput_970

my co-worker and great friend, jess, and i spent the day at the spa in stowe. massages and facials followed by some steam room and a dip in the pool. it was exactly what the doctor ordered – especially because it was mid week! fullsizeoutput_a4a

every time we go visit our sisters in california i think to myself, “that was one of the best trips out there, it’ll definitely be hard to beat.” and yet, every single time we go back, it get’s a little bit better. our trip this spring was amazing. meagan, was able to fully relax and unwind with baby #1 at home – perfect getaway before baby #2. img_1850

memorial day weekend was one of the most spontaneous and memory filled weekends of the year. spending a weekend at my friend, jess’, camp in charlotte is a luxury and it might be one of my all time favorite places in vermont. it’s so easy to unwind and  not have a care in the world when you’re drinking wine on the porch watching the sunset. Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

our trip to wisconsin this summer was anything but boring. we kept it exciting by visiting the anchor [seen on diners, drive-ins, and dives], running a half marathon and doing some water skiing all within 72 hours. img_2019

one of the highlights of the summer was when my mom came to visit us in burlington. we hiked, we ate, we sat in the sun. we survived a monsoon and went to a show at shelburne museum all in one evening. we, also, wore hats. img_2237

tiffany turned 30. we had the best sister celebration at topnotch in stowe. after a morning of pampering, we took to the pool with cocktails. Processed with VSCO with g3 preset

we spent many a day on the lake. one of the most memorable afternoons was this one. hard to beat a day on the boat. great friends, tunes, and a beer or two will turn anyone’s day right around. img_2423

it will most certainly be hard to beat this day right here – day one of brenna’s bachelorette party at the palms resort in vegas. i think that’s probably all i should say about it…img_2459

ian and i hiked sterling pond this fall. we randomly saw friends halfway up, went for a dip at the top and took the long way home through stowe. it may have been the long way because of all our detours… doc ponds, cider mill, cabot.fullsizeoutput_ce0

twr – aka my dad – made an appearance in burlington this fall. lots of coffee, some exploring in montpelier, and a belly full of pizza rounded out this long weekend. img_2897

can hardly wait for what 2017 brings.

mar-t-ha

my uncle, joe, once nicknamed my mom as, mar-t-ha, also short for martha. my dad, calls her, marth while tiffany, siri & i have been known to call her, master martha. master martha really is the best lady around. and this week, she came to visit us in good ol’ burlington. she’s been to visit a bunch during college, and since i’ve graduated, we’ve started to spend the winter holidays here.

she flew in monday and i met up with my sister and my mom after work. after an evening of catching up over a few bottles of wine, we hit the hay.

tuesday we got up, guzzled some coffee, and headed to addison, vt for the day. we decided to spend our morning hours hiking snake mountain. it was my first time hiking up and it was gorgeous! easily one of my new favorite quick hikes. it took us about 2 hours round trip [and that was even with a 30 minute hang out at the top checking out the views]. it wasn’t too steep and with the tree cover all the way up, we were able to stay cool(ish) on the 90 degree day.

after the hike, we figured we were too close to middlebury to not go to our favorite restaurant, the lobby. the lobby is located right along the river and we sat on the shaded porch, ate far too many fries [among other things], and enjoyed a bottle of rose. it’s a great spot with an even better ever-changing menu. if you’re in the area, it’s a must. we finished our evening at a local eatery [because we hadn’t eaten enough…] in the old north end of burlington. butch and babe’s is a relatively new joint with locally sourced ingredients with an emphasis of being a family and neighborhood hangout. i fell in love with my cocktail – gin, basil, and strawberry with a salted rim – what more could i want?!

the gals at dinner

wednesday we lounged around, spent a few hours at the beach in the terribly humid heat, packed a picnic and headed out to shelburne museum for the edward sharpe and magnetic zeros show. before we had left for the show, we thought the entire night was going to be a bust due to the TORRENTIAL downpour. however,  mother nature, let up and we were able to groove the night away with friends.

we may have started the evening with a few cocktails at home during the rain and then may or may not have had some fun with a photoshoot and some hats. 😀

we started thursday with a mani/pedi combination at the mini spa. nothing better than getting pampered over a cup of coffee after a few too many glasses of wine the night before. 😀 we continued the pampering by heading over to mirror mirror and picked out some new items for our faces. a workout, some lounging, and dinner at tiny thai closed out the vacation week.

it was a great week spent with my mom and sister. time always flies by, so i’m already looking forward to the next reunion. thanks for coming, mar-t-ha!
