field + supply review

happy fall, ya’ll! how the hell is it already october 10th….? needless to say, the year is flying by. can’t believe it especially because it hasn’t quite felt like fall temps here yet. it’s been unusally warm for the season – it was 80 last week! thankfully the weather is slowly starting to cool off and the leaves are unreal pretty.

last weekend, tiffany and i did a totally “fall thing” and trekked out to the catskills to go to a craft fair. yes, a craft fair but i liked to call it a “boujee” craft fair while  field + supply was calling it a “modern makers” craft fair. the fair was held in kingston, new york along the hudson river at the hutton brickyards. let me start off by talking about how swoon worthy the location was. it’s this gorgeous and huge event venue that’s the home to many a concert, craft fair and wedding. it’s warm and inviting and i wish it was closer to burlington because i would spend hours there. just sitting. and staring. stole this pic from the hutton brickyards instagram account. start stalking – you won’t be sorry. fullsizeoutput_1923

we actually went to the fair with the intent to take this amazing calligraphy class put on by inkrevival. we aren’t that crazy to drive 8 hours total just for a craft fair. we wanted to get there in the morning with enough time to browse through all the vendors and eat without feeling rushed to make it to our class in time. but at 1:26 when we couldn’t find the table with the calligraphy class that was supposed to start at 1:30 we knew something wasn’t right… we asked some ladies at the closest “check-in” table and they informed us that the class we were signed up for, that we paid for, that we drove 8 hours round trip for was, indeed, CANCELLED. no communication was had regarding this cancelled class and the organizers of field + supply AND the woman who was teaching the calligraphy class are equally to blame. trust me, i get that life happens. and it happens when you’re least expecting it. there are certainly things that you cannot predict or plan for and it sucks and throws everything off. i get that. but seriously to not send an email about a class that was cancelled is bonkers. we most certainly wouldn’t have traveled that far OR stayed over friday night if we hadn’t signed up for the class. end rant.

i still want to take a calligraphy class – if anyone has good class options [online or in person] please send them my way!!

ranting aside, we had a great time at field + supply and wanted to take everything home. i found these amazing earrings from melissa joy manning and an amazing pair from tiny anvil jewelry. it took everything in my power to NOT buy yet another hat from trs hat company.

rewind to friday night when we arrived to the catskills. we stayed in hudson which is one of the cutest towns ever. our first stop was the rivertown lodge for a couple cocktails. the aesthetics and decor in that place make me want to re-vamp my entire space and have it look exactly like this hotel. IMG_1357

we bopped around downtown and went into some of the amazing stores that hudson has to offer. again, i wanted to buy everything to re-decorate my entire space. if you’re into the mid-century modern vibe you’ll be into hudson. moto coffee has the best lattes, finch has unreal furniture, mutiny the best store to find a gift for your guy, and fig & bella is the best store to find a trinket for yourself.

overall, it was a great weekend (even with the cancelled class…!) and i would go back to hudson in a second for another mini get-away! i highly recommend it. fullsizeoutput_18fdmy favorite fall combo – a good hat and comfy sweater from jess boutique paired with a scarf for the cooler days.fullsizeoutput_1908another shot of the hutton brickyards from this weekend. this one stolen from peak stuff vintage.

three worthy things

monday, woof. it really threw me for a loop today. altering this weeks edition just a hair…

i’m going to start with a belated birthday shoutout to tiffany; 39 never looked so good. 😉 we celebrated by coaching a lacrosse tournament in new york and then with a dinner at the lobby in middlebury. a friend introduced us to her friend’s jewelry brand, otem, which is based out of brooklyn. this is where i found tiffy’s bday gift. seriously, go check them out, because they have beautiful jewelry. IMG_0606.JPG

going off on the jewelry tangent, i can’t help but share this amazing jewelry brand. i’m seriously obsessing over everything they make. especially their choker/collar necklaces. this bracelet is the first item on my wish list. oh, and check out the instagram account, it makes you want things even more.

next up is, ‘the couple next door‘ by shari lapena. holy moly this book is INSANELY good. i literally could not put it down – i bought it sunday and closed it on wednesday night –  and the ending just leaves you wanting more. i’m desperately hoping there’s a second book. here’s a slight recap taken from goodreads:

“You never know what’s happening on the other side of the wall. Your neighbor told you that she didn’t want your six-month-old daughter at the dinner party. Nothing personal, she just couldn’t stand her crying. Your husband said it would be fine. After all, you only live next door. You’ll have the baby monitor and you’ll take it in turns to go back every half hour. Your daughter was sleeping when you checked on her last. But now, as you race up the stairs in your deathly quiet house, your worst fears are realized. She’s gone.
You’ve never had to call the police before. But now they’re in your home, and who knows what they’ll find there. What would you be capable of, when pushed past your limit?”

a couple weekends ago, some friends of mine introduced me to a lawn game called kubb. to be honest, i was not expecting it to be that fun seeing as that it literally is a bunch of blocks and a couple dowels, but, i was pleasantly proved wrong. add a sunny afternoon, a good group of friends and a case of beer and you’ve got yourself an afternoon.

what are your favorite afternoon lawn games?

new year, new blogger.

so i log onto wordpress this morning, and what notification do i see but a ‘happy anniversary with wordpress’ post. i think to myself, “oh my gosh, how cute, can’t believe it’s been two years.” and then i click it….

you guys. it’s been FIVE YEARS. five years has come and gone and what do i have to show for it? a blog that i really love to write, but also a blog that i’m so inconsistent in doing so. a week will come and go and i’ll post a couple times, and yet i’ll let three weeks fly by and not post once. when i started sequins & sneakers i was [wishfully] thinking that it was going to be easy – posting, brainstorm, and writing about cool things – i mean, sounds easy, right? and boy was i wrong. when you don’t dedicate enough time or energy into something, (as hard as it may seem) it won’t just generate out of thin air. SHOCKER, I KNOW. so here i am, ranting about not doing something that i am perfectly capable of doing. i just have to commit and make time for the things i enjoy.

so here i am, feeling like it’s a ‘wordpress new year’. so, happy new year, folks. and as they say… new year, new blogger. with this ‘new year’, i’m going to make a few resolutions. there’s really nothing like airing all your resolutions out in the open for everyone to know because, guaranteed at least one person will ask you about them.

-make a space that’s mine to work in. i want it to feel light and airy, and full of inspiration. here are a few pinterest inspiration desks: this one originally found here. love the natural light from this one, originally found here. i’m obsessed with a crisp white peg board wall like this one, originally found here.

-be more intentional with my posts. start planning for them more – plan topics, plan outfit shoots, plan cocktail making [twist my arm…]. finding a ton of help and motivation from these bad a** babes.

-take better photos and tailor my instagram towards one “vibe” instead of hundreds. you all know what i’m talking about… can’t have ‘light and airy’ but also ‘dark and gloomy’ AND ‘bright and full of color’ in one. it’s like multiple personalities. and i currently have about 5. and i’m working on it, okay?

alright, i’m going to start there. because i could totally keep throwing out resolutions but i need something small and attainable to start with. so with those, i’m going to leave you. i’ll see you in the new year. 😀IMG_0598

farm girl flowers, a growing company based outside of san francisco, is my favorite place to order a delivery of flowers from. they work with farmers throughout california to create the most beautiful bouquets. delivery for most items is $25.00 and can be at your door the next day – even if your door is all the way across the U.S. like mine is!

check out their instagram to see some of their previous arrangements!

my personal fave

i’ve been obsessing over the book, ‘the woman in cabin 10’ by ruth ware. i finished it last night and holy moley, it keeps you engaged and i couldn’t put it down. i told myself i’d stop at 9:30 and then it was 11:00 before i finally forced myself to quit. here is a synopsis i stole from google books:

“This was meant to be the perfect trip. The Northern Lights. A luxury press launch on a boutique cruise ship. A chance for travel journalist Lo Blackwood to recover from a traumatic break-in that has left her on the verge of collapse, and to work out what she wants from her relationship.Except things don’t go as planned. Woken in the night by screams, Lo rushes to her window to see a body thrown overboard from the next door cabin. But the records show that no-one ever checked into that cabin, and no passengers are missing from the boat.Exhausted, emotional and increasingly desperate, Lo has to face the fact that her sleep problems might be driving her mad or she is trapped on a boat with a murderer and she is the sole witness…”

i promise you won’t be disappointed.

these little pre-made cocktail stirrers from trader joe’s are a hidden gem. for less than $5.00 a jar, you earn some serious bragging rights when your cocktail has one of these in it. imagine one in a bloody mary… on sunday… during football season… i think yes. i’ll be whipping into mine this upcoming sunday [preparing for a ‘hair of the dog’ cocktail

episode two of ‘three worthy things’

i follow onia on instagram and i’ve been obsessing over their instagram stories lately. the suit below is one of my all time favorites found on their website, but some of their new spring items are serious winners.  Screen Shot 2017-03-09 at 8.39.00 PM

the two below are [clearly] screen shots of their instagram story a little bit ago. the suit on the right is the yvette one piece – i can’t wait until i can buy it!

this article i found in the new york times is beautifully written. but consider yourself warned – you will go through an entire box of tissues. after a hard day at work, it reiterates how important my job truly is. ❤

for those of you who haven’t heard of kari gran skin care and makeup (more specifically her lip whip), well now you have, and you’re welcome. your lips will thank you. the packaging and presentation is almost so pretty that you don’t want to use it – but then you do and you can’t stop. and even better? it’s all natural with no gross stuff. [yes, stuff].

happy tuesday!
