there has been lots of photo in the last 62 days since we last met.
photo of friends. and family. and travels. and just plain fun.
first things first –
tiffany and i went to colorado. spent a week at home which always seems to fly by. we went up to steamboat to ski for a bit and then spent the rest of the time in denver. the weather was absolutely amazing – it was a nice little break from the arctic winter we’re having in burlington.
skiing was a huge change from what we’re used to here in vermont. let’s just say…. i don’t think my mother would ever adjust to east coast snow. 😉
when we were home, tiffany finally closed on her house – woohoooooo! so we did a bit of celebrating at the most amazing restaurant in steamboat. it was unreal. if you ever have the chance to go, you should.
when we were home i was able to spend some much needed and way overdue quality time with my best friends. we did lots of laughing and catching up over dinner one night . it was one of the best nights ever.
we left colorado longing to go back, so we’re already planning our next trip in august. hopefully tacking on a long weekend in san fran to see the sisters!
once we got back, tiffany went under the knife. disclaimer – nothing emergent!
just a planned surgery to get her thyroid out. everything went well (thankfully) and she’s back at her 110% self.
her case was pushed back – hence the ridiculous pictures taken from the stretcher in pre-op
A mere few days after Tiffany’s surgery I boarded a plane headed for Mexico. gah! Let’s just say it was one of the most spur of the moment, flights booked 3 days before type of trips. And I will say it was one of the best trips ever.
We flew into Cancun and headed south along the coast. Past Playa Del Carmen to Akumal. From there we did lots of exploring. Ventured down to Tulum and holy moley did I fall in love. Driving down the highway I was a bit skeptical but as soon as we turned off the road towards the beach town I knew I was going to love it. Bike rentals on almost every corner, thatched beach bungalows lining the one lane road, and every type of restaurant imaginable. If I go back – wait, when I go back, I will be staying in Tulum.
The weather was gorgeous. Literally couldn’t have asked for a better trip. The weather man was wrong every day (thankfully because he/she had predicted rain and cloudy days). High 80s and ample sun. And don’t worry, mom, Ian made me wear lots of sunscreen.
A week spent in paradise could only mean one thing – you will NEVER EVER EVER want to leave. And that is exactly how we felt. Once we landed at 1am in -20 temperatures, I could’ve easily just burst into tears.
Unfortunately life goes on even when it’s -20. Last week, we walked out to the breakwater on Lake Champlain and it was frigid. I guess I should’ve expected the wind to be crazy – we were on the lake. Luckily it’s been a bit warmer and I heard that someone was walking on the lake this week and his leg fell though. Rumor mill in Burlington…..
Spring time in Burlington means lacrosse season and Tiffany and I are both coaching again. This time for two teams! Apparently we think we have nothing to do outside of work… South Burlington HS has kicked off, and now I’m going to be late for practice. 😀
Happy (almost) April!
